The Sims Heading to the Silver Screen

Ahead of the prolific video game franchise’s 25th anniversary, Amazon MGM Studios confirms its first film adaptation is in the works.
It’s official: Electronic Arts and Amazon MGM Studios have partnered to take the popular video game franchise from the “computer screen to the silver screen.” Kate Herron () will direct the film and co-write and executive produce with Briony Redman.LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment are producing.

The announcement, revealed ahead of the franchise’s 25th anniversary, promised fans more news soon.  is a series of life simulation video games developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts.The franchise, started by SimCity in 1989, has sold nearly 200 million copies worldwide, and is one of the best-selling video game series of all time.
