The Leica LUX grip for iPhone is a cute accessory with truly Leica-like pricing

Leica is known for making absolutely beautiful, minimalist cameras and jaw-droppingly great lenses with pricing in the “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” range. There’s no doubt that the newly-launched Leica LUX grip for iPhone ticks the beautiful box – but also the Leica pricing one … A Leica camera body will cost you somewhere in the $1600 to $5k+ range, with lenses that almost reach five figures.By those standards, I guess $329 is a pretty low price for a Leica product – but still rather eye-opening when all you’re getting for your money is a grip for an iPhone.

Admittedly, it looks like a very grip, with a MagSafe mount suitable for either landscape or portrait use, a two-stage mechanical shutter release, two more customizable function buttons, and a rotary setting dial. You also get a year’s subscription to the company’s Leica LUX Pro app, which claims to give your iPhone shots a Leica-like look.Once that year is up, however, it’ll cost you $69.99 a year to renew it – and you’ll need that if you want to continue using the app.

Yep, the grip can be used with the Leica app! The grip also has a cute leather carrying case, complete with an AirTag holder so you don’t lose it.But that’s an extra $50.If none of that has put you off, it’s set to go on sale on Leica’s website.
