Apple releases public betas for macOS Sequoia 15.5, iPadOS 18.5, more - 9to5Mac

Apple has just debuted new public betas across its lineup of software platforms.Public betas are now available for macOS Sequoia 15.5, iPadOS 18.5, tvOS 18.5, and more.New lineup of Apple beta software now available WWDC in June will unveil this fall’s major new OS versions, such as iOS 19 and macOS 16.

Until then though, Apple’s current software versions will continue getting updates. And the next wave is now in public beta, including: iOS 18.5 iPadOS 18.5 macOS Sequoia 15.5 tvOS 18.5 watchOS 11.5 HomePod 18.5 There is no public beta available for visionOS 2.5, as the Vision Pro has not yet become part of Apple’s public beta program. So far in early testing, visible changes in these latest updates seem especially minimal.

Outside of a new menu option for getting the old Apple Mail look back, there’s little else different to be found in the public beta. It’s possible future beta releases will change that, but it’s also not out of the question that Apple is focusing primarily on under-the-hood changes with these latest updates.Public beta contains little reason to update just yet In advance of iOS 19’s big reveal in June, and the iOS 18 cycle winding down, Apple may be focusing its efforts largely on making these updates as stable as possible, while investing more heavily in the flagship new versions to come.

That said, if you’re part of Apple’s public beta program, the lack of noteworthy new features in these updates means you may want to hold off installing for now.Any new bugs introduced could make your devices less stable for virtually no benefit. After later betas arrive, the risk of bugs goes down, and who knows? Maybe the number of new features will increase.
