PSA: iOS 18.2s Apple Mail redesign isnt coming to the iPad or Mac just yet - 9to5Mac

iOS 18.2 will be here very soon, and in addition to a bunch of powerful new Apple Intelligence features, the update also brings a big redesign to the Mail app.But there’s an important detail you should know: the redesign is currently limited to the iPhone only.It won’t be coming to the iPad and Mac just yet.

Mail redesign expected to arrive on Mac and iPad later Apple has been offering iOS 18.2 in beta since October, and throughout that period the Mail app redesign has been available for iPhone users the whole time. However, the iPad and Mac’s companion updates, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2, have had their Mail apps untouched. So is the redesign with new inbox categorization, contact photos, and more going to be iPhone-exclusive? Yes, but only for now.

Apple has talked about versions of the Mail app for Mac and iPad that include the new features. Most recently, the macOS redesign was demoed during Apple’s M4 Mac introductions. The updated app just apparently isn’t ready yet for any other platforms.

iPadOS 18.3 and macOS Sequoia 15.3 might bring Mail updates My guess is that we won’t have to wait too long for the Mail changes to filter out to additional platforms beyond the iPhone. It’s very possible that the macOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates coming early next year will include the new features, and we may even get beta versions in the next couple weeks.iOS 18.2’s Mail changes won’t be for everyone, so perhaps the delay isn’t a big deal.

Perhaps Apple plans to learn from users’ feedback and make tweaks before changing Mail on the Mac and iPad.In any case, the iPhone update will be here shortly and you’ll get to try it for yourself.Have you tried the new Mail features in iOS 18.2? Do you want those changes on the Mac and iPad? Let us know in the comments.
