Go behind-the-scenes with Ben Whitehead, the voice of Wallace, as he talks elongated vowels, phonetic sounds, and how ‘necessity is the mother-in-law of invention’ in this new video that also features some nifty time-lapse stop-motion production and new character PC Mukhergee, voiced by Lauren Patel; film hits the streamer January 3.
Netflix has just released a new featurette going behind-the-scenes on Aardman’s latest animated gem, , that hits the streamer tomorrow, January 3.The video showcases a very exuberant actor Ben Whitehead, the voice of Wallace, the eccentric, cheese-loving inventor from the North of England, as he talks elongated vowels, phonetic sounds, and how “necessity is the mother-in-law of invention.” Walk through the recording process as the actor breaks down how “cheese” becomes “cheeeeeese” and other notable Wallace-isms.
Whitehead previously worked with Peter Sallis (the original voice of Wallace) on several brand projects and has done a commendable job taking up the mantle of this iconic character. The featurette includes some nifty time-lapse stop-motion production while also introducing new character PC Mukhergee, voiced by Lauren Patel.Enjoy! Academy Award-winning director Nick Park and Emmy Award-nominated Merlin Crossingham are at the helm of this brand-new epic adventure, which tells the story of Gromit’s growing concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions.
His worrying proves justified when Wallace invents a “smart” gnome, Norbot, that seems to develop a mind of its own. When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master… or Wallace may never be able to invent again! Reece Shearsmith (, ) lends his voice to Norbot; the voice cast also includes Patel, Peter Kay, Diane Morgan, Adjoa Andoh, Muzz Khan, and Lenny Henry.Mark Burton penned the screenplay based on a story by himself and Park.
John Powel is the composer., which had a limited theatrical release December 18, hits the streamer globally (except in the UK/IE) on January 3, 2025.Dan Sarto is Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Animation World Network.
