A new universe animated series, , was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo last week.Franchise regular Sam Witwer () will return to voice Darth Maul when the series hits Disney+ in 2026.
A sneak peek of the project was revealed during a ‘20 Years of Lucasfilm Animation’ panel.“Unfortunately I can’t tell you too much, but what I can say is Sam Witwer’s involvement in the show has been pristine,” said Athena Portillo, VP of Animation.“I’m very excited about him being able to review the scripts and provide input in all of that as well.
Dave Filoni and Sam created the character for animation, and so it’s very important to hear his thoughts as well for the character depth.”
Witwer also took the stage, revealing the series takes place “about a year” after the Clone Wars.“We learn some different things about this character,” Witwer explained.“He’s got some different traits that you wouldn’t necessarily think he has that make perfect sense from what he’s been through.”
