2024 Cartoon Forum Tributes Winners Announced

Peer-to-peer awards honor broadcasters, investors/distributors, and producers in the promotion and development of European animation; Franco-German public broadcaster ARTE, Germany’s ZDF Studios, and Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon were honored.
Cartoon Forum has announced the winners of the Cartoon Forum Tributes, peer-to-peer awards honoring the work of broadcasters, investors/distributors, and producers in the promotion and development of European animation.Nearly 1,000 professionals attending the 35th edition Cartoon Forum voted to select the winners of this year’s Cartoon Forum Tributes.

Broadcaster of the Year prize went to Franco-German public broadcaster ARTE, while Germany’s ZDF Studios and Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon received recognition as Investor/Distributor and Producer of the Year, respectively.This year’s nominees also included companies from Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland.The Tributes, presented for the first time in the French city of Pau in 2006, have since grown into a landmark recognition in the European animation industry.

At the ceremony, event organizers also presented RAI Kids executive director Luca Milano with a Cartoon Tribute of Honor for his contribution to European animation.Throughout his career, Milano has been responsible for programming, acquiring, producing, and co- producing internationally animated content for children.Cartoon Forum Tributes 2024 Winners Broadcaster of the Year: Franco-German ARTE, founded in 1992, is a European public cultural television channel and digital network with a focus on creation and innovation.

Investor/Distributor of the Year: Mainz-based ZDF Studios, founded in 1993, is a commercial subsidiary of Germany’s ZDF, one of the largest public broadcasters in Europe.Producer of the Year: Cartoon Saloon, established by Paul Young, Tomm Moore, and Nora Twomey in 1999, is a world- renowned animation studio with five Academy Award and two Golden Globe nominations, as well as BAFTA and Emmy Awards.Debbie Diamond Sarto is news editor at Animation World Network.
